International Cancer Advocacy Network (ICAN)
ICAN® is a 501(c)(3) patient advocacy and research advocacy organization dedicated to supporting cancer patients through advocacy, education, and access to clinical trials. We focus on Personalized Medicine Cancer Case Navigation Programs, health information technology issues, legislative initiatives, and research projects. ICAN deals with Stage IV cancer patients, providing advocacy programs, clinical trials advocacy, tumor information services, and anticancer drug information services tailored to individual patients. The ICAN® mission is to assist and empower late-stage patients worldwide with cutting-edge information regarding anticancer drugs in clinical trials as well as physician referrals at the patient’s request based on the patient’s reported medical situation. ICAN provides one-on-one patient advocacy for cancer patients, offering support from diagnosis through treatment and care. With a focus on personalized advocacy, ICAN helps patients navigate the complexities of cancer treatment and empowers them with information and resources. ICAN has two missions: cutting-edge patient advocacy and enhanced drug discovery to improve and expedite the pipeline for promising anticancer agents. The drug discovery mission is to promote greater public awareness of promising anticancer drug discovery efforts which might well become part of tomorrow's standard medical treatment arsenal. An Innovative Cancer Organization with True Credibility. ICAN takes an appellate law approach to the War on Cancer, determining what has gone wrong in the decades since the Cancer Conquest Act was signed in 1971, such as breaking through bottlenecks in the anticancer drug pipeline and seeking compassionate use of investigational new drugs.
